Yoga workshops with Eyal Shifroni in Wrocław, September 2nd-4th 2022!

We invite all advanced yogis and yoga teachers to a unique 3-day yoga workshop led by Eyal Shifroni. Eyal accepted Marek Bednarski’s invitation for the fourth time, thanks to which we will meet him again on the mat at Fabryka Energii Centrum Jogi in Wrocław. The previous workshops were of great interest to yogis both from Poland and from around the world. We hosted Eyal in 2017, 2019 and 2021. His second visit coincided with the publication of the Polish edition of Eyal’s book „Yoga with a chair”. The September yoga workshop is a unique opportunity to practice under the watchful eye of such an experienced teacher as Eyal Shifroni, as well as listen to his message and yoga philosophy.

Eyal Shifroni

Eyal Shifroni is a Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher. He has been studying and practicing yoga since 1978, and has been teaching since 1985. In 1988, Eyal went to the Ramamani Iyengar Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India for the first time to study directly with Guruji, B.K.S. Iyengar. For many years he went there for monthly internships, and in 2009 Guruji awarded him the Senior Intermediate III certificate.

Eyal Shifroni was lucky to meet BKS Iyengar personally, to study under his supervision, to take part in interesting conversations. He translated two books by Guruji into Hebrew: „The Yoga Tree” and „The Light of Pranayama”, and he is the author of as many as 6 books on yoga.

He studies yoga philosophy regularly and writes articles on yoga practice and philosophy. As one of the oldest teachers in Israel, he is active in the Iyengar Yoga Association of Israel (IYAI), conducts teacher training courses and has been actively involved in the teacher certification process for many years. Eyal runs the Iyengar Yoga Center in Zichron Ja’akow, Israel, and organizes yoga workshops all over the World.

Eyal Shifroni – author of best-selling books 

Eyal is the author of 6 yoga books. His books describe the use of yoga aids such as straps, wooden blocks, and chairs in the practice of Iyengar Yoga. The book „A chair for yoga” is considered a classic of yoga working with chairs. It includes many varieties of asana exercises with a chair, which is a universal prop that is widely available. 

Eyal’s latest publication – „The Extended Chair for Yoga: A Comprehensive Guide to Iyengar Yoga Practice With a Chair” is an extended version of the popular bestseller „Yoga with a Chair”. The book contains twice as many variations from the original edition, with a total of over 600 photos illustrating how each variation can be made. Both practitioners and yoga teachers can benefit from it. Those who have studied „Yoga with a Chair” will find in this new edition a treasure trove of ideas for hours of enjoyable yoga practice and asana exploration.

„Five Elements in Yoga”

WORKSHOP TOPIC „5 ELEMENTS”

According to yoga, the material world (Prakriti) is composed of five gross Elements or Mahābhūtas: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space (or Ether).

In our practice the Elements are present in the following ways:

  • Earth – solidity, grounding, stability, compactness
  • Water – flow, softness, balance
  • Fire – heat, dynamism, energy
  • Air – movement, mobility, breath
  • Space – extension, expansion, mental space.


During our workshop we will devote each session to one Element and learn how to improve the practice by attending to these Elements. In each session Eyal will show how to practice focusing on one Element. This perspective enriches the practice and makes it more interesting and playful!

B.K.S. Iyengar explained how the Elements play a role in our practice in many talks and interviews.

The Sessions


In the first session (Earth) we’ll learn:

  • To properly ground ourselves in the asanas
  • To create compactness in the hips
  • To strengthen the bones (which are the solid part in our bodies)

 

In the second session (Water) we’ll learn:

  • How to create softness and flow in the asanas
  • How to soften and broaden your abdomen
  • How to enter into deep forward extensions with softness
  • How to relax in restorative poses


In the third session (Fire) we’ll learn:

  • How to increase the digestive power.
  • How to heat ourselves (especially in cold days).
  • How to create mobility in the hips, belly and lower spine.
  • How to create enthusiasm and energy.
  • How to overcome laziness, apathy and laxity.


In the fourth session (Air) we’ll learn:

  • How to create swiftness and agility in your practice.
  • How to connect several asanas to a sequence (Vinyasa) done in a flow.
  • How to move with elegance and lightness.
  • How to arch backward and improve the flow of your breath.
  • How to strengthen your main organs of action (Karmyendrias): the arms and the legs.
  • How to move dynamically in Sirsasana and Sarvangasana variations.


In the fifth session (Space) we’ll learn:

  • How to use props in order to relax deeply in asanas.
  • How to create space in the body and mind.
  • How to stay longer in inverted asanas.
  • How to become more mindful to our breathing.
  • How to create space in Pranayama practice.

The entire workshop consists of 5 sessions, each dedicated to a different element.

The workshop is intended for people who regularly practice yoga from min. 2 years (requires the ability to perform Sirsasana and Salamba Sarvangasana), for advanced people and for future and current yoga teachers.

Note: We are committed to preserving Eyal’s teaching dynamics, so please note that the workshop will be held in English. This will allow us to fully feel the message of Eyal’s teaching.

YOGA EQUIPMENT

Please bring your own yoga mat and belt.
Other yoga equipment (blankets, chairs, blocks, ropes, bolsters) are available on site.

Classes are conducted using the BKS IYENGARA® method
